Conrad O. Yu, M.D. joined Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center in 2004. Dr. Yu’s areas of expertise are athletic and traumatic injuries to the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and knee. He also has special interests in repetitive use injuries, arthroscopic surgeries, and arthritis of the hand, wrist, and elbow.
Dr. Yu keeps up-to-date on the most current surgical methods and orthopedic advances by attending both general orthopedic as well as upper extremity subspecialty meetings. His efforts in advancing skills sets extends to helping others while teaching the next generation of physicians as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Dr. Yu graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin in 1994, earning a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Yu completed extensive research on breast cancer and published his work in Endocrine. In 1998, he received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin Medical School where he was Class President and continues to serve on the Alumni Board of Directors.
Following medical school, Dr. Yu completed his Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Connecticut in 2002. During his training, he did research on elbow instability, biceps tendon ruptures, and pediatric fractures. He participated in the care of the athletes on the University of Connecticut Men’s and Women’s NCAA Championship basketball teams. His training covered all aspects of Orthopedic Surgery, but he took special interest in hand and elbow surgery, Sports Medicine, and Orthopedic Trauma surgery.
Upon completion of residency, Dr. Yu pursued an additional year of fellowship training, specializing in Hand, Wrist, and Elbow surgery at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked under the guidance of several world-renowned hand surgeons at the New England Medical Center and New England Baptist Hospital. He also completed research on surgical treatment of tennis elbow and served as a clinical instructor in Orthopedic Surgery for Tufts University School of Medicine.
